Purple City
Purple City is a well established street gang in Baltimore City. The gang is comprised of multiple sets spread throughout the city’s west and east side. The gang is highly active in the school system and is known for violence and tagging. Older Purple City members are tied to the distribution of narcotics, specifically marijuana.
 
Identification
Purple City members use a number of identifiers to associate gang membership and activity. The gang’s official color is purple. The color is mainly used for tagging and is used in clothing items and accessories. Accessories include purple shoe laces, purple rosary beads, purple and black necklaces or bracelet.

Popular graffiti or taggings used by Purple City consists of the gangs name or individual sets name. Acronyms are used by the gangs to mark their area of influence, (PCDS) Purple City Dip Set and (PCBG) Purple City Bird Gang.
 
Membership

Purple City membership is mainly comprised of African American youths between 10 and 18 years of age. The gang has members in several of Baltimore  City’s Middle and High Schools. Senior members of the gang are known to be 20 to 25 years of age.
